On the 12th September I attended the Mayor’s Thames Festival

On the 12th of September I attended the Mayor’s Thames Festival. I believe it has been happening for the past 5 summers and has grown each year. The Festival lasts the entire weekend and continues into the early evening allowing for a wide range of people to participate.

The main stalls were located between the London Eye and Blackfriars Bridge. In jubilee gardens there were many amusements for the kids, making the festival perfect for families.

This was a tent for the kids, where large bubbles entertained them.

A diverse range of cultures had stalls set up providing information about their culture and its cuisine.

On the Sunday night of the festival there is a night carnival, which starts on the opposite bank and travels all the way round to the eye, many different groups attend this. From large groups of drummers to pure costume based groups. The work that had gone into some of the designs was very impressive.

Following the carnival and to conclude the entire festival fantastic fireworks light up the Thames. To get a good view one had to camp in one spot sometime before but with patience comes results and the fireworks were very well done.
